Jimin is a worldwide sensation, just like the band he represents, BTS. The South Korean pop band is perhaps the largest and currently most popular band in the world. They are so big that their revenue literally contributes to the national economy of South Korea, and many might just call them the pioneers of K-pop who made the genre a global force.

Park Ji-min, both dances, writes and sings for BTS. The artist is now all set to release his first-ever solo album titled Face. The song will appear in the album for his brand new bold and “intense” venture.

Jimin on Set Me Free Pt. 2

Face, Jimin’s solo debut album, will be out on the 24th of March this year. He appeared for an interview recently and talked about his excitement and interpretation of his album, particularly the new song he has just put out.

“When this song was made, I felt really attached to it,” he said. “I went to the US myself for the choir recording, and listening to it right next to them was truly amazing. I remember it as a really good memory.”

The artist was clearly cheerful about him being the center of attraction for the first time. He has many solo tracks on the albums released by the band, but it’s not quite the same when you have all the attention just on yourself. The Pt. 2 at the end of the song’s name may be confusing for some fans since Jimin has no song titled Set Me Free. Here’s what he had in mind about the name:

“There isn’t a connection, and we weren’t trying to divide part one or part two,” he told Consequence. “But since it turns out my song talks about freedom and moving forward, and SUGA’s song talks about some of the stories that come before, I thought it would be good to come after that.”

The song clearly references SUGA’s Mixtape D-2, which inspired the name of the new track. All the members of BTS are quite tight-knit, they’re a family like no other. Fans of the band may have been a little overwhelmed when the group announced that they would be serving the mandatory 18 months of Military service. The group was all set to reconvene back in 2025, but recently, the claims of them coming back together have been refuted by HYBE chairman Bang Si-hyuk.

RM became the first member of the group to release a solo project back in 2015. Now, Jimin is following in his footsteps since the group announced that they would be focusing on solo projects going forward. Jimin expressed nervousness about his venture. There is obviously the pressure of showing how he’s still a proud BTS member before all else.

“You know, the members felt very nervous before releasing their solo albums, but compared to those feelings, their results were absolutely great,” he noted. “I don’t want to be an embarrassment to my members. I want to be a proud member of BTS.”

The song sets the tone for FACE. A more aggressive stance, a beat that could be called stronger, and a brilliant set of lyrics and vocals. It can indicate what the artist has planned up for the rest of the album.

“This album talks about how I look back on myself and how I overcame… If people understand the emotions I’m trying to express, I’ll consider the album a success.”

Clearly, the artist seeks to express and highlight his identity with his new project. BTS fans are sure to receive it with great pleasure and soon, more solo projects could come their way too.
